Set against the lush hillsides of Marco de Canaveses, 543. Paços de Gaiolo 01 is a contemporary countryside residence that redefines rural living through architectural restraint and environmental harmony. Designed for a family seeking tranquility without isolation, the home is anchored in simplicity, nature, and light.

The volume is low and grounded, intentionally modest from the road, yet reveals expansive spatial dynamics once inside. A minimalist concrete form floats subtly above the terrain, with warm wood detailing that softens the overall mass and invites an intimate dialogue between architecture and landscape.

The linear plan is organized to follow the slope of the site, creating a natural rhythm between public and private spaces. Floor-to-ceiling openings blur boundaries between interior and exterior, drawing in distant views of the valley and fostering a strong connection with the seasons.

🌿 Key Architectural Strategies:

  • Topographic Integration: Designed to follow the natural contours of the land with minimal disturbance.
  • Passive Design: Carefully oriented for optimal sun exposure and natural ventilation, reducing energy dependency.
  • Materiality: A restrained palette of concrete, timber, and stone sourced locally for reduced footprint and lasting elegance.
  • Indoor–Outdoor Flow: Central courtyard and wraparound terraces extend the living space into the natural landscape.

This residence is not just a home—it is a living framework that supports a slower, more intentional way of life. 543. Paços de Gaiolo 01 embodies our studio’s philosophy: architecture should disappear into its surroundings while quietly elevating the lives within.
